BR Ambedkar statue 'illegally' placed in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohihi on govt land

A group of villagers 'illegally' built a statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on government land in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district, prompting officials to take action against them. Without obtaining permission from the authorities, a village head and other villagers installed a statue of Babasaheb Dr Ambedkar on Gram Sabha property, after which revenue officers lodged a complaint with the police.

Acting on the complaint, 25 people were booked by police officials in connection with the event. The complaint against the village head and local villagers was filed. In the meantime, tension mounted in the village after a protest against the construction of the statue on government land was staged by people belonging to other castes of the specific village.

Sensing trouble, after having discussions with the locals, the police acted quickly and calmed down both parties. The police have stationed a large number of cops in the area in order to preserve the law and order situation in the area. In order to avoid any untoward incident, Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) has also been deployed in the village.
