BJP leader to contest against Jharkhand CM in assembly polls

Jamshedpur, Nov 17 (PTI) Peeved about his name notfeaturing in the list of 72 candidates announced so far forthe assembly polls, senior BJP leader Saryu Roy on Sunday saidhe will contest against Chief Minister Raghubar Das as anIndependent.

The Food, Public Distribution and Consumer AffairsMinister in the Jharkhand Cabinet said he will contest fromthe Jamshedpur (East) and Jamshedpur (West) assemblyconstituencies. He had won from the Jamshedpur (West) seat inthe 2014 polls.

'I will file my nomination papers from both theassembly constituencies tomorrow. I will also resign from thethe Cabinet on the same day,' Roy said.

Roy's move comes in the wake of his name not finding aplace in the first four lists of 72 candidates declared by theBJP for the 81-member assembly in Jharkhand, which is going topolls in five phases between November 30 and December 20. PTIBS PVRRBT RBT
