Man arrested on suspicion of murder after two bodies found at home near Birmingham

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the bodies of a middle-aged couple were found at their house near Birmingham.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, officers forced their way into a property in Moat Road, Oldbury, where a 54-year-old man and 52-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, a 25-year-old man who was arrested at an address in Smethwick, remains in police custody.

Police said they were treating the murders as a “domestic-related incident”.

Officers added that initial investigations led them to believe there was no threat to the wider community.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said an ambulance, paramedic and Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to the scene at 4.05am.

“Upon arrival, crews found two patients, a man and woman,” a spokesman said.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became clear nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene.”
