The French drugmaker Sanofi will pay $11.6B to buy the U.S. based biopharma company, Bioverativ (BIVV). The company, which was spunoff from Biogen last year, makes drugs for the blood disorder hemophilia. The deal is a 64% premium to Bioverativ’s closing price on Friday.
Starting today Facebook (FB) will allow its users in the U.S. to rank news sources that they see as the most credible and trustworthy. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the change in a post late Friday. The move comes after Facebook was blasted for not doing enough to stop the spread of fake news on its site.
Coca-Cola (KO) hopes new flavors and a redesigned can will turn around slumping sales of Diet Coke. Four new Diet Coke flavors, including Twisted Mango and Ginger Lime, and a new skinny can hit store shelves today. Coke is trying to lure back young people who have moved on to healthier drinks.
Apple (APPL) says it’s making a significant investment to the Malala Fund. The tech company will help grow the charity’s presence worldwide to help girls gain access to education. The fund was created by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai who was shot by the Taliban when she was 15 for advocating education for girls in her native Pakistan. Apple CEO Tim Cook will also join the Malala Fund leadership council.
