Award-winning Kollywood filmmaker Vijay of Madrasapattinam fame will direct a biopic on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, reported The Hindu. The is likely to be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, and is all set to go on the floors on 24 February.
There has been no formal announcement on who will play ‘Amma’, as Jayalalithaa was fondly known.
"Madam Dr J Jayalalithaa was one of those few regional leaders who went on to become a force to reckon with in Indian politics. Her life is an inspiration for womenfolk around the world. This film will be a tribute to her achievements, both in cinema and politics. We will launch the movie on her birthday, 24 February. Prior to her illustrious career as a politician, she was a successful actor who was a part of over 140 films, across various film industries.
J Jayalalithaa, a six-time chief minister, passed away after a massive cardiac arrest on 5 December 2016 in Chennai.
