Bihar: Boatmen talk about the lockdown and their hardships; deprived from basic amenities

Jiten & Ram are boatmen who earn a meager 500 rupees daily by ferrying villagers of Digha to & fro from the capital city of Bihar. During the 6 month lockdown, they almost starved as everything came to a standstill due to the COVID pandemic. Being on the opposite of Patna almost feels like a curse for them. No hospitals, empty schools, development has been promised but never been fulfilled. As they get ready to vote for a new government in the second phase of Bihar polls, they have renewed hope from Tejasvi Yadav, the youth leader of Bihar & the ex-CM Lalu Yadav’s son. The demand for development and relief from unemployment is their only demand from the next government.
