Pune, May 17: The sessions court in Pune on Friday ordered the Maharashtra Police to provide copies of the forensic science laboratory report to the two accused of Bhima Koregaon case.
Mentioning the details of the judgement, Judge KD Vadane stated that only those documents which have been submitted by the investigating officer to the court can be copied and provided to the accused. Earlier, accused Surendra Gadling and Arun Ferreira moved an application and had sought access to copies of the forensic lab reports, which was denied by the Maharashtra police.
According to reports, these documents include several emails and letters correspondence of Bhima Koregaon accused allegedly with the wanted Naxals. Along with the emails, the documents also include a letter which allegedly mentions a plan to murder Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is to be known that the case relates with the crackdown by Maharashtra police on rights activists, after January 2018 violence, which erupted during the 200th anniversary of the Bhima Koregaon battle in Pune. Both the accused were arrested in the case in August 2018 and are currently on bail.
