Though bashed by below average reviews, Salman Khan is keeping his fans happy as his latest film, Bharat, scored another massive total on the second day at the box office.
Salman Khan is back after he faced a tough time as his last EID releases, Race 3 and Tubelight suffered at the box office. However, the Ali Abbas Zafar directed Bharat, surpassed all the expectations yesterday.
Bharat took an eye-popping opening in the morning shows to 65% across India which is biggest opening since Thugs Of Hindostan, released last year. Despite the crucial world cup match between India and South Africa, the earnings boosted in the evening and night shows, bringing the jaw-dropping total to Rs 42.60 crores and higher than what we expected. With this earnings, Salman Khan has scored his biggest opening beating Sooraj Barjatya directed Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which earned a massive Rs 40.35 crores when it was released in Diwali 2015. Released in 4700 screens in domestic market and with the holiday of EID, Bharat also became the third the highest opening film of all time after Aamir Khan starrer Thugs Of Hindostan (Rs 50.75 crores in Hindi) and just shy of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Happy New Year (Rs 42.62 crores)
Since Thursday was a normal working day, Bharat showed a drop in the footfalls to 30-35% which was expected, collecting Rs 27-29 crores and bringing an overall collections to a solid Rs 68.5-70.5 crores as per trade figure estimate.
The action-drama also stars Tabu, Katrina Kaif, and Disha Patani in lead roles and will be produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar. The film tells the chronicles of an ordinary man over the span of 60 years. Salman Khan re-unites with Abbas Ali Zafar for their third collaboration after giving blockbusters like Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. The budget of Bharat is Rs 125 Crore (Production Cost: 105 Crores, Prints & Advertising Cost: 20 Crore)
