When Bhaiyyuji Maharaj rejected MoS status saying it 'holds no importance for a saint'
Bhaiyyuji Maharaj, who is said to have shot himself dead today in Indore, was one of the five spiritual leaders who were offered the Minister of State (MoS) status by the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government in April.
However, unlike Computer Baba, Pandit Yogendra Mahant and Narmadanand Maharaj, Bhaiyyuji had declined the offered.
"A post holds no importance for a saint. All he has ought to think of is service to the people. When a post or status does not touch your mind, intellect or conscience, why think about it?" Bhaiyyu Maharaj had told IANS in an interview.
Bhaiyyuji Maharaj, in his interview, had also said that he had "no fondness for a particular party or community", and that his only emphasis was on nationalism.
While he was a consultant to several politicians like Sushil Kumar Shinde and Vilasrao Deshmukh, he himself is said to have never dabbled in politics.
Bhaiyyuji -- aka Udaysinh Deshmukh -- was known for having interest fancy cars and poetry writing. Earlier today, the Indore-based self-proclaimed guru was rushed to the hospital after he shot himself in the head.
In Indore's Bombay hospital, Bhaiyyuji was declared dead.
