London, Nov 30(ANI): Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez will give beleaguered Fernando Torres a month to prove he can turn his and Chelsea's season around.
As Chelsea drew 0-0 with Fulham and Torres returned another blank night on Wednesday, the man who could possibly replace him was watching from the stands.
Brazilian forward Taison was last night locked in talks with Chelsea over a 10 million pounds move from Ukrainian club Metalist Kharkiv.
The aim at the moment is to buy to support Torres, with Abramovich still backing his 50 million pound striker.
Benitez, who has overseen two goalless draws in his first two games, wants to try to get his team, who have responded well to his arrival according to sources at the club, to help serve Torres better, but the manager will not wait too long, the Daily Mirror reports.
With Daniel Sturridge a 15 million pound January target for Liverpool and fellow striker Victor Moses heading to the African Nations Cup in January, Benitez is anxious to bring new blood into the attack, the paper added.
After Wednesday night's draw had seen Torres extend his run without a league goal to 10 hours and 49 minutes, Chelsea owner Abramovich walked into the dressing room and was seen consoling the hapless striker, he said.
Benitez knows that however much Abramovich insists that Torres is the man, he as manager cannot wait forever, and he will have an input on signings.
Torres has not scored a league goal since October 6, when he netted the opener in the 4-1 home win over Norwich, and his tally for the season in the league is four in 13 games, or 1,194 minutes on the pitch. (ANI)
