Bengal reports 277 new COVID-19 cases, 1 fresh fatality

Kolkata, Mar 12 (PTI) West Bengal's COVID-19 tally rose to 5,77,788 on Friday as 277 more people tested positive for the infection, while one fresh fatality pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 10,287, a health bulletin said.

Kolkata reported the lone fatality. The metropolis also reported the highest number of new cases at 83, followed by North 24 Parganas (71) and Howrah (26), it said.

A total of 253 more people were cured of the disease, taking the recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state to 97.68 per cent.

The state now has 3,133 active COVID-19 cases, while 5,64,368 people have recovered from the disease so far.

West Bengal has so far tested over 87.87 lakh samples for COVID-19 including 19,376 samples in the last 24 hours, it added. PTI SUS ACD ACD
