Bengal Exodus plea admitted in Supreme Court; state sponsored charge to be investigated

West Bengal Chief Minister came to power for the third term on May 2nd after she single-handedly defeated the Bhartiya Janata Party in the state Assembly elections. However, Didi faced a tough challenge as soon as she won. Under the garb of celebrations, violence was unleashed in Bengal and continued for days, forcing people to fled and take refuge in the neighbouring state of Assam. As many as 10,000 people fled West Bengal during this exodus, which they later called state-sponsored. A plea has now been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a probe in the matter. The plea will be heard on Tuesday.
