West Bengal Congress General Secretary Rohan Mitra quit on Wednesday, claiming that he was no longer "inspired" to serve under the leadership of the party's state chairman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Mitra said in a letter to Chowdhury that the "sycophants" who surround him have not only brought down the Congress state leader, but have also contributed to the party's final demise in the state, "with no obvious signs of rebirth in the near future."
