After Being Janeudahari Pandit, Rahul Gandhi Now a Descendant of Parashuram, Claims Local Congress Leader Haseeb Ahmad
Allahabad, Dec 12: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raised question on Rahul Gandhi for wearing janeu (sacred thread), a youth Congress leader leader Haseeb Ahmad in Allahabad put up a poster on his social media account and called him a ‘janeudhari’, while congratulating him for his elevation as party president. The poster reads,“Shiv bhakt, Bhagwan Parashuram ke vansaj, Janeudhari Pt. Rahul Gandhi Ji ko Bharatiya Rashtriya Congress party ka rashtriya adhyaksha banaye jane par hardik badhai” (Heartly congratulations to devotee of Shiva, descendant of Parashuram, bearer of sacred thread Rahul Gandhi on getting elected as the president of the Indian National Congress).
Ahmad also claimed that Rahul Gandhi is a Lord Shiva devotee as well as descendant of Lord Parashuram, a mythological character found in the Mahabharata was known for his wrath. “Those who follow sanatan dharam and also worship Lord Parashuram should know, Rahul Gandhi, being a Brahmin, has a right to wear janeu (sacred thread),” The Times of India quoted the Congress leader as saying.
The poster comes days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had questioned the religious credentials of Gandhi on being a Hindu. The Congress leader Ahmad also asserted that no person should raise questions on wearing ‘janaeu’ (sacred thread).
Besides photographs of Lord Shiva and Lord Parashuram, the poster had a collage of photographs, including former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramood Tiwari, and local Congress leaders Haseeb Ahmad and Tribhuwan Tiwari.
