Shree Narayan Singh has made his debut as a director with Toilet Ek Prem Katha, an entertainer with a social message. His second film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, also falls in the same category. Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor play the leads, while Divyendu Sharma and Yami Gautam have important roles in the film too. Our movie reviewer is watching Batti Gul Meter Chalu in the theatre right now and here's what he has to say about the first half. Batti Gul Meter Chalu Music Review; Har Har Gange Saves The Album of Shahid Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor's Film From Being a Let Down!
Susheel Kumar Pant aka SK, Sunder Tripathi, and Lalita Nautiyal aka Nautical are BFFs since childhood in a town in Uttarakhand. SK is an unscrupulous lawyer who uses methods of blackmails to extort money from businesses. Sunder is more of a goody-goody boy who starts a clothes factory. Lalita is the chirpy embroider with dreams of being the next Rohit Bal. The boys are in love with the girl, but her selection of the life partner brings cracks in their friendship. Shraddha Kapoor’s Style File for Batti Gul Meter Chalu Promotions Was Distinctly Different Than Hers for Stree.
There is also the fact that their town is plagued by frequent power cuts. Sunder's factory gets the most affected as he has to face exorbitant electricity bills while also maintaining generator charges. When he doesn't get help from the consumer courts and his own friend, Sunder commits suicide. This leaves SK guilt-stricken.
So far, Batti Gul Meter Chalu has its moments and is entertaining. The Splitsvilla inspirer love triangle was silly but keeps you engaged, especially with its conclusion. Looking forward to seeing how SK manages to take revenge on the corrupt electricity board for Sunder."
