Former US President Barack Obama is one of the most popular and well-loved world leaders. Even after vacating the White House he is still eagerly followed. Recently he took to his Twitter account condemning the attacks in Charlottesville, Virginia which has become the most liked tweet ever with more than 2.8 million Twitter users endorsing his view and quote. Barack Obama used a quote of the late South African president Nelson Mandela and wrote, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…” He followed up the tweet with more words from Nelson Mandela’s autobiography Long Walk to Freedom and wrote, “People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love…” The third tweet read, “”…For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” – Nelson Mandela.”

The tweet has already broken all records in Twitter history and has become the most liked tweet. Reportedly, a spokesperson from Twitter said that the tweet broke the record on Tuesday. The quote that Barack Obama used was split into three tweets which all have gone viral. The other two tweets have also garnered 1.2 million and 1.1 million likes on Twitter. Barack Obama’s tweet became the most liked tweet in the history of Twitter, closely followed by Ariana Grande’s tweet following the attack on her concert in Manchester.

Barack Obama’s tweet became the fifth most-retweeted tweet following closely a teenager’s tweet who wanted free chicken nuggets from Wendy’s, Ellen Degeneres’s tweet from the 2014 Oscars ceremony and a tweet by Louis Tomlinson to his One Direction band member Harry Styles.
