New Delhi, November 2: Banking activities including all financial transactions across the nation will take a hit in November on account of several festivals, especially during the Diwali week. During November, banks are likely to be shut on a number of holidays including Diwali, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Chhath Puja, Bhai Dooj, Eid-e-Milad. However, the dates of these bank holidays may differ from state to state. November will witness a five-day bank holiday at a go. In the first week, banks will be shut on the occasion of Diwali from November 7 (Govardhan puja) to November 9 (Bhai dooj). November 10 is the second Saturday and November 11 is a Sunday so no banking transactions would be possible. Banking operations, intra-government transactions, transaction clearances among other transactions are likely to be impacted during these holidays. Reports inform that there are around 2.20 lakh ATMs across the country. As the festive season has set in, people are likely to face a cash crunch as ATMs are believed to run out of cash. The demand for cash may increase as people are likely to spend more money during the festive season as they visit relatives and friends.
