Bangalore, Dec. 15 (ANI): Following the arrest of a local executive for operating a pro-ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) twitter account, the Bangalore police on Monday confirmed that a notice had been sent to the Indian offices of the social networking site.
"Our investigative officer issued a notice to Twitter Corporation in India, and... we have asked them to provide to us with data, to which they have responded already. It is still an ongoing process," Bangalore Police Commissioner M. N. Reddi told the media.
Reddi further stated that though the authorities were aware on a twitter account, which has threatened to stage a siege similar to the ongoing hostage situation in Sydney, the police were at present ascertaining the location of its operator.
"We are aware that there is a twitter handle called '@ISIS_media'. However, we don't know from where this twitter handle operates. We have taken note of it," he said.
Earlier this week, the Bangalore Police had arrested Mehdi Masroor Biswas for allegedly operating a pro- ISIS Twitter account.
An investigation by Britain's Channel 4 News had stated that the @ShamiWitness account, which reportedly had a massive 17,700 followers, was being run by an executive based in Bangalore.
The report also claimed that the executive was ready to join the Islamic State himself if his family had not been dependant on him.
As per reports, the social networking account had also tweeted US aid worker Peter Kassig's execution and other videos, moments after they first appeared on the internet. (ANI)
