The Ayushhmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam starrer Bala gathered steam on the second Sunday despite facing the new releases, Marjaavaan and Motichoor Chaknachoor, at the box office.
Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam starrer Bala impressed everyone with a fantastic first week collections at Rs 72.24 crore. The comedy drama faced solid competition from Marjaavaan which led to a drop on second Friday. However, there was a very good growth on Saturday followed by Sunday.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, who earlier made Stree, Bala
had a grand first week total. Bala faced the competition from new films like Marjaavaan and Motichoor Chaknachoor but still held its ground at the ticket window, minting Rs 3.76 crore on second Friday. The earnings escalated on second Saturday with Rs 6.73 Crore.
Due to poor performance of Marjaavaan in the multiplexes and Motichoor Chaknachoor going nowhere, Bala performed very well at the urban multiplexes. As per early trade report, Bala showed a solid growth on second Sunday, collecting some where between Rs 8-8.5 crore, bringing the 10 days total to Rs 90-91 crore.
Bala is produced by Dinesh Vijan and tells the story of a balding prematurely guy and a dusky girl and their frustration with the fair-skinned dominated society. Bala is made on a budget Rs 45 crore (Production Cost: 35 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore) and has released in 3000 screens in India.
