Bajrang Dal Threatens Hyderabad Pubs From Hosting Valentine’s Day Events
Hyderabad, Feb 12: The Bajrang Dal is once again up in arms against Valentine’s Day. The right-wing outfit on Sunday threatened some pubs and clubs in Banjara and Jubilee Hills and asked owners not to host any special event to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
“We are also approaching shops and outlets selling gifts related to the ‘Lover’s Day’ in the city,” Vishal Prasad, Hyderabad Bajrang Dal in-charge, was quoted as saying. Prasad further said Valentine’s Day is against the Indian culture and youths ruin their career by embracing ‘foreign culture’.
The Bajrang Dal in-charge said three teams will be sent all over the city to keep an eye on the clubs and pubs on Valentine’s Day. “Action will be taken if they (pubs) witness any party or event being conducted despite the warning,” Prasad declared.
Since the Bajrang Dal has the reputation of resorting to violence, the police is maintaining a tight vigil at several public places ahead of the Valentine’s Day. The police will depute 23 teams in the Jubilee Hills area and ensure that pubs close by midnight, reported Deccan Chronicle.
The owners of pubs and clubs confirmed threats from Bajrang Dal regarding Valentine’s Day celebration. Members of the outfit have been ‘visiting’ places in Hyderabad since last week.
