Bajaj Chetak electric scooter bookings could commence from November according to reports from Bikedekho. We expect the company to start accepting bookings ahead of its official launch in India, with a nominal booking amount. The price for the upcoming electric scooter is yet to be revealed.
The upcoming electric scooter features retro-styling with modern touches across the scooter. To start with the scooter will feature an electric powertrain and modern features that are seen on other electric scooters in the market.
However, after unveiling the electric scooter from Bajaj, it has received a lot of mixed reactions from the public. Some thought that the design look too much like a Vespa and the company could have done a better job at it here are more details.
The all-electric Chetak draws power from an IP67 (waterproof) lithium-ion battery pack with NCA cells. The electric motor powering the scooter will be a 4kW unit. The upcoming electric Chetak will feature different riding modes: 'Eco' and 'Sport'. The Eco mode will offer a range of 95km, while under the Sport mode the scooter can travel 85km on a single charge. The electric scooter also features a reverse assist mode.
The Chetak electric features a round LED headlamp with DRLs, feather-touch functions for the horn and indicator switches, sequential LED indicators, and a large digital instrument cluster. The digital instrument cluster offer a host of information including the riding range, speedometer, trip-meter, battery charge indicator and more. The company has also installed mobility software like communications, security features, and user authentication for enhanced features and convenience.
Mechanicals of the Chetak electric scooter includes, a single side tubular suspension set up at the front, and a mono-shock at the rear. The scooter will also feature a single side cast aluminum swing-arm, 12-inch alloy wheels. Braking on the electric scooter will be handled by a disc brake at the front, and drum brakes at the rear. The e-Chetak is expected to feature regenerative braking as well.
Although the price for the upcoming scooter is not revealed, we expect the company to price it roughly between Rs 95,000 and Rs 1.35 lakh, ex-showroom (India).
