Bajaj Auto has announced yet another price hike for its entry-level cruiser motorcycle in the Indian market, the Avenger Street 160. Prices of the Bajaj Avenger Street 160 have increased by around Rs 1000 for the second time since the BS6 update.
Post the new price hike, the Bajaj Avenger Street 160 is now offered with a price tag of Rs 95,893, ex-showroom (Delhi). Bajaj had previously hiked the prices of the cruiser motorcycle just last month. However, even with the second price hike, the motorcycle continues to remain the most affordable cruiser in the country.
Apart from the price hike, no other changes have been made. Bajaj launched the BS6 update for the Avenger Street 160 back in April 2020. The BS6-compliant motorcycle was initially priced at Rs 93,677, before receiving a hike of Rs 1,216 in June, which increased its price to Rs 94,891. This translates to a total hike of over Rs 2000 for the cruiser motorcycle since its BS6 update in April earlier this year.
The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 isn't the only motorcycle to receive a price hike though, the two-wheeler manufacturer recently hiked prices of the Pulsar 150 as well. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 range received its second price hike of Rs 1000 a few days back as well.
The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 continues to be powered by the same 160cc single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine. It produces 14.8bhp at 8500rpm and 13.6Nm of peak torque at 7000rpm and is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 comes with a standard telescopic fork set up at the front with twin shock absorbers at the rear, with 5-step adjustability. Braking on the Bajaj Avenger Street 160 is through a 280mm disc at the front and 130mm drum brakes at the rear, supported by single-channel ABS.
Thoughts On The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 Price Hike
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a major disruption in production and sales of vehicles in the Indian market, ever since the lockdown was announced back in March 2020. The price hike could be a result of this disruption, although nothing has been confirmed officially. The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 rivals the likes of the Suzuki Intruder 155 in the Indian market.
