Anantnag (J&K), Mar 16 (ANI): Backyard Horticulture plantation programme is helping growers in J&K’s Anantnag. The prestigious programme was launched few months back in the Union territory. Under the programme at least three fruit plants costing Rs 200 are distributed among the farmers at 90% subsidy. The main objective of the programme is to promote organic fruit production for home consumption and to fulfil individual requirement. A demonstration on the cultural practices to be adopted while planting these fruit plants in the backyard of the houses to keep away the insect was also given to the growers. The growers lauded the step taken by the horticulture department.
