Government’s much-promoted Ayushman Bharat scheme is being misused, it has been learnt. The National Health Agency (NHA) has identified as many as 89 fake websites and mobile apps that are providing misleading information about the scheme. FIRs have now been lodged against owners of these sites.
According to a report in Indian Express, officials have found out that these websites and apps have been misleading people over hiring of Ayushman Mitras, and were also fraudulently enrolling patients. Ayushman Mitras are present at empanelled hospital to provide information about the scheme.
“There is no hiring agency for Ayushman Mitras. We have made the arrangements from our existing staff,” Dr V K Tiwari, medical superintendent, Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital told the leading daily.
“These websites have been giving false information to the patients about the health scheme. Many of them claimed to get a beneficiary card for the patients through which one can avail the treatment under the scheme. There are no charges for registering under the scheme,” said Indu Bhushan, CEO, NHA to Indian Express.
NHA has even written to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and has requested them to shut the fraud sites.
