Chennai: Associate director's death reveals plague of loan sharks in Kollywood
The involvement of loans sharks providing finance to Kollywood producers has always been a serious issue which the state government had conveniently avoided to tackle as big profile players are involved.
Star Kollywood director, Sasikumar's relative Ashok Kumar committed suicide unable to tackle loan sharks.
Sasikumar attained fame through his movies Subramania Puram and Nadodigal. Ashok Kumar worked as a associate producer at Sasikumar's company. He was found dead in his apartment at Chennai.
Sasikumar later stated that Ashok Kumar has written an 8 page letter describing in detail about how he's been paying interest to Anbuvheziyan, a Financier for the past 7 years.
"He has been my shadow and had been with me in all my steps. He was under extreme financial pressure," stated Sasikumar.
Director Ameer, an associate of Sasikumar blamed Anbucheziyan for he death of Ashok Kumar.
"He was paying interest and interest for interest. How much embarrassment can he take?," he questioned.
When asked about why KP on head spoken about the atrocities of loan sharks in the industry, he stated that no one dares to speak up.
"Only in cinema everybody can speak like heroes but in reality we are all struggling. You want the interest and at the same time, you block the release of the movie. Producers council must sit and talk about these issues or else it would lose it purpose," said Ameer.
"The involvement of loans sharks providing finance to Kollywood producers has always been a serious issue which the state government had conveniently avoided to tackle as big profile players are involved. Even this matter will pass away silently," shocking stated a personality from the industry.
