Exit polls have predicted that the lotus is all set to bloom in Uttar Pradesh with the BJP expected to register a landslide victory winning 251-279 seats. The Samajwadi Party-Congress combine, it seems, has failed to stop the BJP's surge, managing to together win somewhere between 88-112 seats. The third major contender BSP looks set to be decimated with just 28-42 seats. BJP also looks likely to wrest power from the Congress in Uttarakhand, winning 46-53 seats. The party looks set to reclaim Goa too, bagging 18-22 seats in the 40-member assembly. In Punjab, Congress is likely to win 62-71 seats, where the ruling SAD-BJP combine is set to be ousted from power, slumping to a single-digit mark.
