A piece of shocking news comes in from Assam where the State Government is set to shut down all government run Madrasas and Sanskrit schools. This decision was taken in order to ban religion teaching with public money in the State, however, lack of funding is also cited.
Times Now speaks exclusively to Assam Minister Hemant Biswas who claims that the government will soon release a notification in this regard. Assam first announced its decision to close madrasas and Sanskrit schools in February this year. The decision on banning religious teachings had led to severe criticism from the opposition parties.
