Assam reports 3,803 new COVID-19 cases, 37 fresh fatalities

Guwahati, Jun 7 (PTI) Assam reported 3,803 new COVID- 19 cases and 37 fresh fatalities on Monday with the caseload rising to 4,38,746, National Health Mission bulletin said.

The death toll in the state increased to 3,695 while the number of active cases currently is 48,672.

Cachar, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat reported four deaths each while three deaths each were from Hojai and Morigaon.

Two deaths each from Bongaigaon, Kamrup Metro, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur, and one each from Baksa, Biswanath, Charaideo, Darrang, Golaghat, Kamrup Rural, Nalbari, Sivasagar, and Tinsukia were also recorded during the day.

The current death rate is 0.84 percent and the number of COVID-19 patients dying due to other causes is 1,347.

The 3,803 new cases detected during the day include 318 from Kamrup Metro, 315 from Tinsukia, 311 from Cachar, and 281 from Dibrugarh.

The new cases were detected out of 1,24,316 tests conducted during the day with the daily positivity rate at 3.06 per cent while the cumulative tests conducted in the state so far are 1,18,08,737.

The number of recovered patients discharged during the day is 4,613 and as many as 3,85,032 persons have recuperated from the infection. The recovery rate is now 87.76 per cent.

As many as 43,86,344 people have been vaccinated which includes 35,31,236 beneficiaries having received the first dose and 8,55,108 the second dose. PTI DG MM MM
