Assam logs 2,433 COVID-19 cases, 34 deaths

Guwahati, Jul 6 (PTI) Assam reported 2,433 new COVID-19 cases and 34 fresh fatalities on Tuesday with caseload rising to 5,22, 267, National Health Mission bulletin said.

The death toll in the state increased to 4,717, while the number of active cases currently in the state is 22,897.

Four deaths each were reported from Golaghat, Kamrup Rural, and Tinsukia, three each from Dibrugarh and Sivasagar, and two each from Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Karimganj, and Lakhimpur.

Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dima Hasao, Hojai, Kokrajhar, Morigaon, Nalbari, and Sonitpur reported one death each.

The current death rate is 0.90 percent and the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other causes is 1,347.

The new cases detected during the day, include 270 from Golaghat, 246 from Jorhat, 229 from Sonitpur, and 203 from Kamrup Metro.

The fresh cases were detected out of 1,00,262 tests conducted during the day. The daily positivity rate is 2.43 per cent while the cumulative tests conducted in the state so far are 1,55,45,174.

The number of recovered patients discharged during the day is 1,745 and as many as 4,93,306 patients have recuperated from the infection.

As many 77,11,026 people have been inoculated in the state, of whom 13,15,639 have received both doses of the vaccine. PTI DG MM MM
