Assam health department releases new SOPs to handle black fungus

Guwahati (Assam), May 21 (ANI): With the sudden rise in the cases of Black Fungus (Mucormycosis) across the states, the Assam Health Department released a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the disease. Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said the state government has engaged health experts to study the case of Black Fungus. The state reported its first death after a 27-year-old Covid-19 recovered patient died of rhinocerebral mucormycosis at a private hospital in Guwahati on May 20.
