Assam CM, minority leaders agreed on ‘population explosion’ a threat for development

Guwahati (Assam), July 04 (AN): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held an interactive session with over 150 intellectuals and religious leaders of minority communities on July 04. He said, “We discussed various issues confronting religious minorities of Assam, particularly the indigenous Assamese minority community. However, it has been agreed that the population explosion in some part of Assam is a real threat for the development of Assam”. “All issues will be discussed in the sub-group and after 3 months we'll be here again to prepare a roadmap for the next 5 years...The next meeting will be held with the migrant Muslim community. This will be a series of meetings in the next 2-3 months,” he added.
