Guwahati (Assam) Jan 30 (ANI): 14-day long ASOMI SARAS Mela 2021 is underway at Ganesh Mandir Stadium field in Khanapara locality of Assam’s Guwahati. The fair which commenced on January 19, was inaugurated by the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley. “ASOMI” (Atmo Sahayak Mohila Gootor Identity) has been developed as the umbrella brand for all the Self-Help Group (SHG) products developed under the aegis of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission Society (ASRLM). The “Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society” in short ‘SARAS’ is a distinctive drive that aims at providing a platform to the rural artisans to showcase their skills and handicraft products. The fair is witnessing a good footfall amid the post-Covid-19 pandemic. The fair also endeavors to raise awareness amongst urban customers on rural livelihood to develop a market link. Handloom products from the state of Assam, ethnic food stall, terracotta of Dubri besides china clay pottery and Chikankari of Uttar Pradesh, Saharapur woodcraft interior decoration items, Manipur handloom products among others are on display at the fair. The fair will conclude on 1 February.
