Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday said Article 370 was a symbol of injustice for the past 70 years.
Ravi Shankar also put forth that under Article 370, "if a Kashmiri Muslim daughter marries with a Muslim man outside Kashmir then she lost her everything (every right) in Kashmir".
However, in 2002, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court ruling said that women who got hitched to "non-permanent residents" of the state (now a Union Territory) would not lose their property rights.
The BJP leader's comment comes amid an unusual calm in the Valley, which continues to witness lockdown barring a few relaxations on the movement of residents.
The relaxation of curbs come ahead of the Eid festival, which is on Monday.
In a tweet, Srinagar district magistrate Shahid Choudhary claimed, "Restrictions have been eased in most parts of #Srinagar. More than 250 ATMs have been made functional in #Srinagar. Bank branches also open. Advance salary on Eid eve being credited today."
However, communication lines and internet services remain to be shut in the Valley.
