Army Jawans in J&K bring pregnant woman through knee-deep snow to hospital

Life in Kashmir was interrupted by heavy snowfall, and the town remained cut off from the rest of the country for the fourth consecutive day. COB Bunawadar issued a call for assistance about a pregnant woman to be delivered on January 6, in the midst of snowfall. The Army team saved the woman from pregnancy-related complications by carrying her through knee-deep snow for several miles.

Ghulam Mh Mir F/O Neema Bano (whose husband works in Pathankot, Punjab), a resident of the Pethawadar area of Handwara in north Kashmir, called COB Bunawadar about his pregnant daughter who was due to deliver today, and had no access to either road or transport and was stuck at home due to heavy snowfall the previous night.

COB BUNAWADAR troops who were on the nearby Area Domination Patrol were immediately alerted to assist the family. The soldiers carried the pregnant woman on an Adhoc stretcher to the nearest Primary Health Centre, about 1 km from the house, in knee-deep snow.
