Aprilia SR 125 launched in India at Auto Expo; Check Price, Specifications, Features and Details

The latest entry from Aprilia is a 125cc version of the same SR 150 series 'sports' scooter.

The Auto Expo 2018 in New Delhi has quite a few showstoppers on display. And in the scooter space, there is one in the Piaggio stand: the Aprilia SR 125. Launched at the Auto Expo, the new SR 125 scooter is a smaller version of the excellent sporty little Aprilia SR 150, and it brings even more closer to owning an Aprilia product, even if it isn’t an RSV4. In terms of styling and design, the SR 125 is a dead ringer of its bigger brother, the SR 150, with a few changes made to the stickers and graphics. From afar, there is little to differentiate between the two stickers. So you get the same sporty looks at a lower price. The SR 125 gets its engine from the already available Vespa 125, delivering 10 bhp of power and 10.6 Nm of torque and mated to a CVT gearbox to deliver power to the rear wheel.

With the SR 125, you get 14-inch rims at the front and rear with wide terrain tires and the twin-pod headlights from the elder Aprilia scooter. The headlight assembly is body colored and there is prominent SR 125 livery on the front apron to distinguish it from the bigger SR 150. You also get the sporty looks of the elder brother, but the analogue instrument cluster is still a little too retro. Plus, the limited color schemes may not immediately appeal to the kind of crowd that goes out to buy 125 cc scooters. But we don’t see this dampening the interest of those who would want to buy a sporty-looking small scooter anyway. The SR 125 gets the same tubular steel frame as the SR 150, with telescopic front forks at the front and a single coil spring suspension at the rear. For braking duties, there is a 220 mm disc brake at the front and a drum brake unit at the rear. ABS is not in the offering, and won’t be in any case. The Aprilia SR 125 will compete against a limited roster, none of them as sporty-looking. Its competitors could include the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the Vespa LX 125 itself. The SR 125 has been launched at a price of INR 65,310 (ex-showroom Pune), and will soon be available at Vespa and Aprilia dealerships near you.
