Apple iOS 12.1.1 update: Here's what's new
With the latest iOS 12.1.1, FaceTime users will now see an improved interface on iPhones and iPads, which will let them easily switch between the front-facing and rear camera during calls. When the iOS 12 was rolled out, Apple moved the camera switch button to make room for new effects and eventually Group FaceTime, however, that left users tapping too many times to actually look for the switch camera icon.
In addition to that, Apple has brought back the Live Photos capture feature during FaceTime calls. However, this can only be done during a one-on-one call and not in a group video chat.
With the iOS 12.1.1 update, the iPhone XR> (>review) users have also been benefitted in particular, which has received the Haptic Touch feature to expand notifications with a long press.
There is another tiny change that comes with the update, which is a redesigned icon for Apple Watch app, which now looks more like the Apple Watch Series 4.
The update also fixes an issue where iPhone and iPad users found that Face ID stopped working suddenly for some moments.
MacOS 10.14.2 update: What's new?
The MacOS update brings a handful of changes too like support for real-time texting for Wi-Fi calling and adding a new menu item to News app for opening a story in Safari.
The update also resolves an issue that had previously been preventing "iTunes from playing media to third-party AirPlay speakers".
tvOS 12.1 update: What's new?
The fourth and fifth generation Apple TV has also been updated to tvOS 12.1. The update doesn't bring any major changes but focuses on bug fixes and under-the-hood performance improvements.
HomePod 12.1.1 update
As Apple prepared to release HomePod in the Chinese market, with the 12.1.1 update for the speaker, Apple has added support for Mainland China and Hong Kong on the HomePod. Additionally, when you connect to HomePod while FaceTiming someone, you will now see the speaker's LEDs illuminate.
