Global tech giant Apple is reportedly working on a foldable iPhone. It is expected to be ready by 2023.
One of the reliable Apple analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo, was able to gather some supplier information through industry sources, reported GSMArena. As per that information, the shipment target of this foldable device is likely to be between 15 and 20 million units.
It further mentioned that said foldable iPhone will sport an 8-inch display in diagonal when unfolded and will have a QHD+ resolution.
Supplier for the same will be Samsung, but will use silver nanowire touch tech developed by TPK because of its advantages over Samsung's Y-Octa approach, report added.
It also mentions that other competing brands like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and Honor are all likely to enter the foldable smartphone race by the end of this year or at the beginning of the next one, with a total volume of about 17 million units.
However, any news about Apple foldable phones is highly speculative since there is no confirmation from the company, and depends on how the market reacts to the new form, said the analyst as cited by GSMArena.
Earlier, Kuo said that Apple has been researching foldable devices since 2016, but rumors surrounding foldable iPhone have noticeably increased in recent months.
