Apple, on Monday, 11 March announced a 25 March event where the company is rumoured to announce its TV streaming and news subscription services.
The Cupertino-based giant has gone with a “show-time” tagline for the press invite for the event, further fuelling the speculations around its upcoming TV service – “the animated countdown GIF and “It’s show time” tag seem to hint that the new TV service will play a big role,” The Verge said.
Early reports of the event suggested the company is focusing only on its upcoming services at the late-March event.
The event will be held at the Steve Jobs theatre in Cupertino, California.
Reports online also said that the new AirPods and the AirPower wireless charging dock might also be introduced at the 25 March event. One CNBC report also said that the company might also reveal the next standard iPad (10.2-inch) at the event.
On 25 March, the company might also announce its news service that has been hailed as the “Netflix for News”, a Netflix-style bundle for magazines and newspapers all in one convenient place.
The news service had fallen into a bit of conflict of interest with the publishers in terms of revenue sharing. The publishers were not agreeing to Apple’s demand of 50 percent revenue sharing.
This is not the first time that Apple has used the “its show time” tagline for its event. It used the same tagline for a 2006 event that announced movies on iTunes and unveiled the Apple TV, The Verge reported.
