'Don't wed your daughters in families who practise triple talaq', Jamaat-e-Islami Hind bats for women's rights

Amid the ongoing debate on triple talaq, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is calling people to banish those who wrong their wives using triple talaq and is urging parents to not wed their daughters in such families.

In a twist to the ongoing triple talaq debate, the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is calling the society to ostracise those who indulge in this practise and urging parents to not wed their daughters in such families.

Atiya Siddiqa, General Secretary of the women's wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said, "Triple talaq is a social ill that needs to be eradicated from India. This campaign will be run in cities and towns where triple talaq is rampant."

She added that both men and women need to be sensitised about it and therefore Jamaat-e-Islami is urging imams to talk about triple talaq in their lectures before Friday namaz.

Siddiqa says an android app is being developed to help people understand Islamic teachings.

Jamaat will spread awareness through 'Jamaat Counseling Center', Darul Qaza and Sharia Panchayats in various cities of Uttar Pradesh.

The organisation will also seek funds from the public and help women deserted by their husbands using triple talaq.

Lauding Prime Minister Modi's plea to not make it a political angle, Bhartiya Muslim Vikas Parishad Chairman Sami Aghai said, "Modi's step to abolish triple talaq has been welcomed by many."
