AP reports 261 new COVID-19 cases, tally now 8,92,269

Amaravati, Mar 16 (PTI): The surge in fresh coronavirus cases continued in Andhra Pradesh with 261 people testing postive for the virus in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Tuesday, pushing the active caseload up to 1,579.

The state saw 125 patients recovering from the infection while no deaths were reported during the period, according to the latest bulletin.

The state COVID-19 chart showed the caseload at 8,92,269 with 8,83,505 recoveries and 7,185 deaths, the bulletin said.

At least nine districts reported new cases in double digits with Guntur topping with 41.

Visakhapatnam added 39, Chittoor 37, Krishna 34, East Godavari 28, Anantapuramu 25, Kurnool 20, SPS Nellore 11 and Kadapa 10 fresh cases in a day.

Vizianagaram reported zero fresh cases while West Godavari added three, Srikakulam six and Prakasam seven, according to the bulletin.

Active cases in Chittoor rose to 484, Krishna 214, East Godavari 193, Guntur 154 and Visakhapatnam 120 while the remaining districts had less than 100 each. PTI DBV BN BN
