AP logs 289 new COVID-19 cases,428 recoveries

Amaravati, Jan 6 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh reported 289 fresh cases of COVID-19, 428 recoveries and three deaths in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Wednesday.

The overall infection positivity rate slid to 7.30 per cent after 1.21 crore sample tests for the virus so far turned out a total of 8,83,876 confirmed cases, the latest bulletin said.

The total recoveries climbed to 8,73,855 and deaths to 7,125, leaving 2,896 active cases in the state, it said.

Guntur reported 42, Chittoor and Visakhapatnam 40 each, East Godavari 39, West Godavari 33 and Krishna 27 new cases in 24 hours, the bulletin added.

The remaining seven districts added less than 20 cases each.

All districts now have less than 500 active cases each, with Krishna the topper seeing 59 recoveries in a day and dropping its caseload to 470.

Krishna, incidentally, crossed 48,000 total positive cases on Wednesday.

Four districts in the state, in fact, have less than 100 active cases each.
