Anti-Pak slogans at last journey of slain BSF soldier

Deoria (UP), May 2 (PTI) Strong anti-Pakistan sentiments marked the last journey of slain BSF Head Constable Prem Sagar as his body arrived at the Police Lines and was taken to his native Takenpur village, about 40 km from the district headquarters here.

Anti-Pakistan slogans were raised as the IAF chopper, carrying the soldier’s body, landed at the Police Lines ground this evening.

Placed in an ambulance of the district hospital, the body was taken in a cavalcade.

Uttar Pradesh minister Surya Pratap Shahi and senior administrative officers were present.

Poeple thronged to pay a tearful farewell to the brave heart who was beheaded by Pakistani forces in Poonch sector.

The people showered petals on the body as a mark of respect.

45-year-old Sagar’s daughter had demanded a tit for tat reply for her father’s martyrdom.

“My father is martyred. I demand 50 heads for one head,” Saroj had said fighting back her tears while consoling her mother.

Shahi handed over a cheque of Rs 20 lakhs to the family on behalf of the state government.

Under the cover of heavy mortar fire, Pakistani special forces team had sneaked 250 metres across the Line of Control (LoC) into the Poonch sector and beheaded two Indian security personnel yesterday.

Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh of 22 Sikh Infantry and Head Constable Prem Sagar of 200th Battalion of BSF were killed in the attack. BSF constable Rajinder Singh was injured in the incident.

The BAT team had set up an ambush to target the patrol party of the Indian soldiers while the Pakistan Army engaged two Indian forward defence locations (FDL) with rockets and mortar bombs, officials said.
