Andhra Pradesh: Over a dozen injured in separate bus accidents

At least 15 people have sustained injuries and over 90 others received minor injuries in the bus accidents that took place in separate districts of Andhra Pradesh.

At least 5 people sustained serious injuries and 30 others suffered minor injuries after the bus they were travelling by met with an accident near Naidupeta in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. The bus was en route Chennai from Vijayawada.

In a separate accident in Prakasam district, 10 students suffered serious injuries and 60 others escaped with minor injuries when their bus overturned at Pedda Alavalapadu in Pesipalli mandal in the wee hours of Tuesday. They are students of Karedu ZP High School. The bus was returning to Karedu after an excursion trip from Mahanandi and Yaganti in Kurnool district.

The driver of the school bus has been taken into custody for negligent driving.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock over the accident and tweeted, "In deep anguish to learn about the bus accident near Alavalapadu in Prakasam district where several school students have been injured".

Tweeting about the Naidupeta accident, CM Naidu said, "In another unfortunate bus accident in Nellore district, 10 people have sustained injuries. We are monitoring the situation".

On Monday 11 people lost their lives while 36 people were injured when the bus they were travelling by plunged off a culvert in Krisna district.
