Ananya Panday’s Co-Star Vijay Deverakonda Asks, ‘Why Is Fighter Being Seen As My Bollywood Debut?’ - EXCLUSIVE

·1-min read

Telugu heartthrob Vijay Deverekonda who is currently in Europe, fails to see why his next release Fighter is being seen as his Bollywood debut. “It’s not designed as my debut vehicle. Nor am I looking at it as a leap into a new zone. I don’t think Bollywood is a separate entity from cinema in the rest of the country. Not any more at least. Cinema from all over the country is being seen and noticed. So I’d say Fighter is one more exciting project for me,” says Vijay.

The project has been on hold since the Coronavirus pandemic, with major action sequences yet to be shot by director Puri Jagannath. Very slowly inch by inch, the film industry is getting back to work. We now have Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions resuming its interrupted shooting schedule from September 2020 with the Vijay Deverakonda starrer.

Says a source close to the project, “This was bound to happen. Karan Johar’s production house is in the process of getting all the pending projects back on its feet. Deverakonda’s film was the most affected. They have shot some excellent action scenes with Vijay. There were at least three more major stunts to be shot.”

Sources say the shooting may be shifted to Hyderabad since that’s where the leading man and the director Puri Jagannath are located.

Fighter also stars Ananya Panday who made her debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year franchise. Ananya was last seen in Khaali Peeli opposite Bollywood’s new heartthrob Ishaan Khattar.
