Vienna: At Least 4 Critically Injured in Two Separate Knife Attacks, Accused Arrested

Vienna (Austria), Mar 8: At least four people were injured in two separate knife attacks on Wednesday in Vienna, Austria. The attack reportedly happened at 7:45 PM on Praterstrasse in central Vienna. Police are said to have arrested a man of Afghan nationality who carried out the attacks in the Austrian capital.

A family of three – a man, his wife and their adult daughter – were among the ones seriously injured in the random knife attacks in the heart of Vienna.

In the first incident, a family of three were attacked. Half an hour later, another man was attacked nearby. The police are trying to ascertain if the two attacks are related and carried out by the same person.

“A man attacked a family – a father, a mother and their 17-year-old daughter – with a knife. The three people were seriously injured and their lives are in danger,” a police officer was quoted as saying.

The police said that a man has been arrested in the case but it yet not clear if the attacks were related. “Whether there is a connection with the bodily injury in the area of #Praterstrasse is the subject of the investigation,” Vienna police said in a tweet.

The locals have been urged to stay indoors. The motive behind the attack has not been known yet.
