The Bharatiya Janata Party and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (BJP-NDPP)-led Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) leader Neiphiu Rio will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Nagaland today.
Nagaland governor PB Acharya will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Rio and other council ministers at a swearing-in ceremony at 11.30 am today.
Y Patton, who is already elected as the leader of BJP Legislature Party, is likely to be sworn in as deputy chief minister.
Apart from Rio and Patton, 10 ministers will be inducted in the cabinet.
Sources say that, besides Chief Minister-designate Neiphiu Rio, other NDPP MLAs who will be inducted into the cabinet include Noke Konyak, CM Chang and Neiba Kronu.
Besides Y Patton, four other BJP MLAs are expected to be inducted in Rio's cabinet. They include P Paiwang Konyak, S Pangnyu Phom, T Imna Along, H Tovihoto Ayemi.
The lone JD(U) MLA in the Nagaland Assembly as well as an Independent MLA will also be inducted as minister in the new government.
Rio was elected unopposed on an NDPP ticket from 11th Northern Angami-II Assembly constituency.
He previously was the Chief Minister of Nagaland for three terms, making him the only Nagaland Chief Minister to have served three consecutive terms in office.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new Nagaland government will be conducted in open air, a first of its kind in the history of Nagaland's Assembly.
BJP President Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, CMs of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya are expected to attend the ceremony.
