Meet Dr Noori Parveen, The 28-Year Old Who Treats Patients At Just Rs 10
In an era where exorbitant medical charges have made it difficult for the underprivileged to receive treatment at hospitals in India, Dr Noori Parveen in Andhra Pradesh is a shining symbol of hope.
The 28-year-old doctor from the Kadapa district charges her outpatients just Rs 10 and her inpatients Rs 50 per bed.
In an effort to provide medical aid to people from economically weaker sections of society, Dr Parveen treats a minimum of 40 patients every day.
She recently launched a women’s health facility where gynaecology services are also offered for Rs 10. “Most people with medical complications do not know whom to contact. I refer them to the concerned specialists in neurology, orthopaedics or gynaecology”, Dr Parveen explained.
For all the COVID patients that she treated, the first and foremost thing she did was to drive away their fears by talking it out.
She said that her inspiration to serve humanity comes from her parents, who taught her to be helpful to the needy.
An MBBS graduate from Fatima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS), Kadapa, Dr Parveen’s social welfare activities started while at college when she and her classmates reached out to the local orphanage and old age homes, which continued even after she started her medical practice and launched the Dr Noori’s Health Care initiative. She soon became known among patients as the ‘Rs 10 doctor’.

“I opened my clinic deliberately in a poor locality of Kadapa for people who cannot afford expensive treatment. I started my clinic without informing my parents back home. But when they came to know about my work and my decision to charge a nominal fee, they were immensely happy and blessed me,” Dr Parveen told the media outlets.
During this course, she also started two organisations for the cause of education and health of the poor—namely, Inspiring Healthy Young India and Noor Charitable Trust.
Besides, Dr Parveen plans to earn a postgraduate degree in psychology and hopes to build a multi-speciality hospital to help the underprivileged sections of the country.
