New Delhi, March 7: Karnataka’s Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty was stabbed multiple times in his office in Bengaluru on Wednesday. State’s home minister Ramalinga Reddy said that the accused has been taken into custody and Justice Shetty is out of danger.
According to early reports, Karnataka Lokayukta Vishwanath Shetty had gone to his office for a hearing when a man named Tejas Sharma allegedly attacked him with a knife.
Justice Shetty is undergoing treatment at Mallya hospital. Reports said that Justice Shetty has been stabbed at least 3 times. It is not clear how the man managed to enter the office with a knife. The motive of the attack is not known yet.
Meanwhile, political battle has begun in the state, as former prime minister HD Dewe Gowda attacked the Congress, saying the party wants to destroy the institution of Lokayukta in Karnataka.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reached at the hospital where Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty was admitted.
