Champions League 2017-18: Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola to Wear Yellow Ribbon During Second Leg

New Delhi: Pep Guardiola, the manager of Premier League club Manchester City, has revealed he is planning to wear a yellow ribbon again in support of the Catalan independence movement during the second leg of the Champions League.

The English Football Association has launched proceedings against Guardiola for wearing the yellow ribbon, since the FA prohibits any display of political symbols.

Manchester City will face Basel in the second leg of Champions League and they will be high on confidence as Guardiola’s men won the first leg of the game 4-0.

Meanwhile, defending champions Real Madrid eliminated Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 stage of the Champions League by defeating the French club 2-1 in the second leg and 5-2 on aggregate.

It was PSG’s second successive round of 16 exit in the competition as one year ago, the reigning Ligue 1 champions wasted a four-goal advantage in the first leg to crash out of last 16 against another La Liga giant FC Barcelona. (With IANS inputs)
