'I am Shandilya'; Mamata Banerjee says as she takes out the 'Gotra' card

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Tuesday that she is from the 'Shandilya' gotra while speaking at a public rally in Nandigram on the final day of campaigning for the second phase of the Assembly elections. One of the eight highest Brahmin Gotras is 'Shandilya.' Shandilya was a powerful rishi and the progenitor of the 'Shandilya' gotra, according to the Bhagavat Purana. Union Minister Giriraj Singh raised the issue of "Rohingyas' Gotra" after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee listed her "Gotra" in Nandigram. He said 'Mamata Banerjee is worried about losing the election. She's using the gotra card for this purpose. Suvendu Adhikari and other BJP candidates are the targets of her attacks. She has a habit of abusing the Election Commission.'
